Sovereign Placement

Psalms 76:6-7 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another. Read Psalm 75:1-10.

Joseph, some would say, was the perfect example of a *spoiled* boy. Scripture says plainly that Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other sons. Indeed, envy was inevitable. And Joseph*s tales of dreaming that his brothers were bowing down to him certainly did not help matters. Then came the day when the jealous brothers sold Joseph to a band of traveling tradesmen, who in turn sold him to Potiphar in Egypt. At this point, who was responsible for Joseph*s predicament? The obvious answer would be his rascally brothers! Yet years later, when Joseph, now a ruler in Egypt, faced his brothers once more, did he blame them for their shameless and cruel treatment? Not for one moment. Listen to what he told them: *God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God* (Gen. 45:7-8). God*s sovereign placement of His servants is a fact of life. The Prophet Nathan reminded King David, *Thus saith the Lord of hosts, *I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel: and I was with Thee and have made thee a great name* (2 Sam. 7:8-9). Paul pointed out believers* differing gifts, mentioning among them prophecy, ministry, teaching, giving, exhortation, supervision, and showing mercy (Rom. 12:6-8). Thus, if you are born from above, what you are, where you are, the work in which you are engaged, and the circumstances surrounding that work are all a part of God*s perfect plan for you at this time. Don*t fight them. Thank God for them and minister through them! Small thought here. The secret of promotion is not just doing your best; it is doing your best unto the Lord!
